New mums – this is for you! Cherish Every Moment!

I’ve just been reading a few blogs and searching the web as my gorgeous girl sleeps and came across this! I thought I would share it – It’s my new screen saver and rang so true in my mind, especially after a few tough nights of late. Yes as new mums, there are good days and bad days and days where you think – Jeez I just want a quiet bath in peace. We are all human after all!
Life is short and it’s true that time goes so fast, so if you’ve have a bad night, been nutted in the head (yes I currently have a black eye!) or have a teething baby that won’t settle, then live in the moment and try to attend both of your needs. Whether that’s a nap together, popping your baby in your bed at night or putting them in the carrier and going for a nice walk. Cherish your baby and remember each day is a gift!

Cherish each and every moment for today in the most important of your life right here, right now.
We are not promised tomorrow.
But, by tomorrow, they will be a bit older and you will never have this exact moment in time with them again.
Each day is a gift.
Slow down and take time to sink in every smile, laugh, cry and sleepless night.

Post Baby Fat Loss – Time to clean up my diet

Last week I had an amazing week. I really got back on top of exercise. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t go crazy BUT I managed to walk most days for around an hour and did a core/postural circuit for 30 minutes a total of four times. I either did this in my home studio once my hubby came home and was having his quality time with Lacie or I did it in my living room whilst Lacie was sleeping. She only tends to have little cat naps so it was a case of – she’s asleep – let’s go – quick! I managed it. It was just a case of being flexible and doing it when I could.

This week I’m going to really focus on my diet. Lacie is 6 weeks and I want to clean things up a bit. I generally eat well but if I want to get my baby weight off then I need to eat super clean and lean for a few weeks.

So…I’ve been shopping. I’ve got salads and soups for lunch, I’ll be having a juice of beetroot, apple and cucumber and lemon in between meals to keep my energy levels and nutrients high and I’ll be having eggs and smoothies for breakfast. As a personal trainer and nutritionist I feel I have enough knowledge and experience of how to lose weight sensibly without affecting my energy levels and breast milk so if anyone needs help out there please get in touch.

Ok so first things first, it’s time to weigh myself. I’m going to do this every three to four days to make sure I’m on the right track and the scales are going down sensibly. Here goes…..

Walking Away My Baby Weight

At three weeks postpartum, there isn’t a lot I can do exercise wise apart from walk and eat clean and lean.

As you know from my birth story, I had a bit of a traumatic birth with Lacie, so I am still recovering with lots of stitches and a few pains ‘down stairs’, so I’ve really rested up so far but now itching to get outdoors.

All this week I’ve made a conscious effort to get outdoors with my pram and walk for at least 45 minutes. Not only does this help my mood and energy levels but its giving me confidence with getting outdoors in the morning. With a new-born its easy to stay indoors and before you know it the day has gone.

With 4kg to go until I reach my pre-baby weight I’m determined to get rid of it slowly and sensibly without putting myself under pressure, so to start things off, I will start with daily walks.

A few products I have found really helpful when walking – especially around busy roads is my BuggyTug. You simply attach it to the pram them put it around your wrist to stop your pram from rolling away. It just makes me feel more secure and confident with my precious baby. I would hate my pram to roll away in this horrendous weather…

Before my walk, I’ve also had to make sure I eat a decent pre-walk breakfast. I hate going out on a full stomach but what with breast-feeding I need to make sure I keep my energy levels up and calories high. To make sure I have something in me, I’ve been having Protein World Slender Blend shakes with fresh berries and 1/2 a frozen banana and a pinch of cinnamon. The protein based shake is just 130 calories but really filling thanks to its unique blend of vitamins, fibre and nutrients. I’m still having my lemon water and Lucy-Bee coconut water too. Both are easy to make and take no time at all.

Lastly – a good sports bra is a must – even when walking. My boobs feel very full and heavy from the breast-feeding so its vital they are well supported. Therefore I was ecstatic to come across the Freya Active sports bra that has been  specifically designed to support the fuller bust and is available for larger cup sizes going up to a H cup. The bra features microfibre fabrics for moisture control, whilst also featuring a centre front extension for extra support. I love the padded straps  too, which stop any chaffing on my shoulders.

Results

There really isn’t anything stopping from walking now – if only the weather was better…..it’s nearly Spring time I suppose. Now Where’s my waterproofs?
