40 weeks pregnant – What’s in my hospital bag?

Yup – I’m still here. I’m still writing. I’m still waiting. This little girl is keeping me on my toes, so I’m taking the time to walk, workout, sleep, watch movies and make sure EVERYTHING is organised for when she does decide to come.

Funnily enough my hospital bag has been packed since I was 35 weeks pregnant. How typical. If it wasn’t packed – perhaps she would have come sooner?! Oh well, it is, what it is.

So what have I got packed in my hospital bag? Is yours all packed? I hope this helps you to get organised….

First of all, my baby’s stuff is all packed in her OiOi Diamond Quilt Hobo Bag.

This lovely looking bag has one main internal compartment for all her nappies (I’ve packed around 12), cotton wool, a baby grow (this is so cute – Mothercare is great!), some scratch mittens, a blanket, some vests and some muslin squares.

In the elasticised pockets, I have packed some bottles (just in case) and a few bottles of Aptamil 1 First Milk, again just incase.

The bag also has a padded change mat, an insulated bottle holder which i have taken out for now and a PVC OiOi wipes case, which again I have taken out, as the hospital suggests that you use cotton wool to begin with – not wipes.

And how about my bag? Well I actually have a small suitcase as I have so much stuff in there!
I have my *dressing gown, *some spare towels, *warm slipper socks (apparently your feet can get cold during labor), *rose oil, which is supposed to help relive back pain and help relax the pelvis, *lip balm, as your lips can get dry from the gas and air, *hairbands to keep my hair off my face, *my Gownie, maternity gown, *a TENS pain relief machine and also my phone with *headphones, as I hope to listen to my hypnobirthing session with Marisa Peer to help relax me and keep me focused.

I’ve also got lots of snacks and drinks to keep me going through the labour, including *Jax Coconut water, to keep me hydrated and energised (it’s better than water and energy drinks in my opinion!), *bananas, *Bounce Balls –  fudgie walnut is my favourite flavour, *homemade, clean and lean flapjacks and some *chewing gum.

I’ve also packed my hospital notes. DO NOT FORGET THESE GUYS!

Hopefully my next post will be a birth announcement!

32 weeks pregnant and counting…

I thought I would give you a quick update as to how I’m feeling.

I’m now 32 weeks and yes still working out five to six days a week but starting to wake up more tired and also feel the effects of working out with a little person inside of me. It’s not a case of sitting down on the mat for tricep dips and then just getting back up again. Everything is taking that little bit longer. I feel like a granny 🙂

Saying that – my energy during the day is still good and I’m setting my alarm on my phone to remind me to eat every three hours. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not having a slap up meal every time my alarm sounds but I will head to the kitchen and have a big glass of water and a healthy snack like some avocado on rye bread or hummus or veggie sticks.

Sleep – it’s ok. I have one of these amazing pregnancy pillows from Mothercare – which I recommend to EVERYONE! (I even got my husband one because it kept stealing mine!) Sleep is so important for recovery an growth and there is tons of research out there also that says it can help stablise your blood sugar levels and stop you reaching for sugary snacks. There is alot to be said for 8 hours a night – if you can get it!
